ChemiCarb works by drawing water through its microscopic pores, effectively "trapping" dissolved organic waste, odours, and discolouration. This process helps to:

Important Usage & Maintenance:
- Rinse Before Use: Always rinse Aqua One ChemiCarb thoroughly with aquarium water (not tap water) until any dust has subsided before placing it into your filter.
- Placement: For optimal effectiveness, place the carbon after your mechanical filtration media (e.g., filter floss or sponges) to prevent larger debris from prematurely clogging its pores.
- Regular Replacement is Crucial: Activated carbon has a finite absorption capacity. Once its pores are filled, it can no longer absorb impurities and may even begin to release previously collected waste back into your aquarium. It is essential to remove and replace Aqua One ChemiCarb every 6-8 weeks (or sooner if water quality issues persist) for continuous effectiveness and to prevent any re-release of absorbed pollutants.
- Remove During Medication: Always remove activated carbon from your filter when medicating your aquarium, as it will absorb the medication, rendering the treatment ineffective. Once the treatment is complete, you can reintroduce ChemiCarb to remove any residual medication.
