Overview: The Black Line Flying Fox (often referred to simply as the Reticulated Algae Eater) is a sleek, silver-to-gold torpedo-shaped fish. While it looks similar to the standard Flying Fox or Siamese Algae Eater, it is easily distinguished by its unique pattern: rather than a solid black stripe, it has a beautiful reticulated (net-like) scale pattern across its body, a prominent black spot right at the base of its tail, and a yellowish tint to its fins.
Origins: They are native to the fast-flowing, oxygen-rich river basins of Southeast Asia, particularly the Mekong and Chao Phraya basins spanning Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. They are built for current and love navigating rocky riverbeds.
Personality: These fish are tireless workers and incredibly athletic swimmers. As juveniles and young adults, they are relatively peaceful and spend their entire day eagerly grazing on aquarium surfaces. However, as they grow into large adults, they can become quite dominant and territorial over their favorite grazing spots, occasionally chasing away similar-looking tank mates.

Should be kept in groups? They can be kept singly or in a larger group of 4 or more in a spacious tank. Avoid keeping just a pair, as the dominant fish will relentlessly chase the submissive one.
