Overview: The Neon Dwarf Rainbowfish is a small, dazzling freshwater fish known for its vibrant and iridescent coloration. The males, in particular, display a brilliant metallic blue or purple sheen that seems to glow, especially under proper lighting. Their fins are typically edged in a fiery red or orange, creating a stunning contrast against their shimmering bodies. Their active and schooling nature makes them a dynamic and eye-catching addition to a community aquarium.
Origins: This species is native to the streams and floodplains of New Guinea, specifically in the Mamberamo River basin of Irian Jaya. They are found in slow-moving or still waters, often with dense vegetation.
Personality: Neon Dwarf Rainbowfish are generally peaceful and active. They are schooling fish and thrive when kept in groups of six or more. This not only makes them feel more secure but also encourages their most vibrant coloration and natural behaviors. They are excellent community tank inhabitants and get along well with other peaceful, similarly sized fish. They tend to swim in the middle to upper levels of the aquarium.
