Individual Worm: Typically 15mm – 40mm in length.
Container Size: Available in mini packs and medium packs
Live Whiteworms are a highly nutritious, small terrestrial oligochaete worm related to the common earthworm. In the world of aquatic and terrarium care, they are prized as a "conditioning food." Because they are significantly higher in fats and proteins than many other live foods, they are the secret weapon for hobbyists looking to bring their pets into peak breeding condition.
These worms are incredibly easy to culture at home, requiring only a cool, dark container and basic kitchen scraps (like bread or oats) to thrive. Their soft bodies make them 100% digestible, ensuring that even the smallest or most delicate fry and amphibians can consume them without risk of impaction. When dropped into water, they wiggle enticingly for hours, triggering a frantic feeding response from even the pickiest eaters.
Key Features:
High-Calorie Conditioning: Packed with essential lipids and proteins, making them ideal for "bulking up" underweight animals or preparing breeders.
Survival in Water: Unlike many terrestrial feeders, Whiteworms can survive underwater for several hours, giving slow-moving fish plenty of time to forage.
Soft & Safe: No hard chitin or shells; they are completely soft-bodied and safe for sensitive digestive tracts.
Induces Spawning: The high fat content mimics the seasonal "bloom" of food in the wild, often triggering natural spawning behaviors in tropical fish.
Self-Sustaining: A single starter culture can provide a lifetime supply of live food if kept in a cool, moist environment (10°C – 20°C).
Whiteworms are a premium supplemental food for:
Freshwater Fish: Cichlids, Corydoras, Tetras, Discus, and Betta fish.
Amphibians: Axolotls (especially juveniles), Newts, Salamanders, and small Frogs.
Reptiles: Very small lizard species or hatchling skinks.
Aquatic Fry: Excellent for larger fry that have outgrown Brine Shrimp but aren't ready for pellets.
Expert Feeding Tip: Because Whiteworms are very rich (high in fat), they should be fed as a supplemental treat or conditioning tool (2–3 times a week) rather than a sole primary diet to avoid fatty liver issues in your pets.
