Zebra loaches are peaceful, social, and active bottom-dwellers with a playful personality, best kept in groups of five or more to thrive and exhibit natural behaviors like the "loachy dance". Without ample space and social interaction, they can become shy, aggressive, or stressed. They are excellent snail-eaters, making them a good choice for planted tanks, but should be kept with compatible tankmates like other active, peaceful fish and avoided with fin-nippers or overly timid species.
