Simply place the Ammonia Alert® sensor in your marine or freshwater aquarium, and its innovative surface will constantly monitor the water for the presence of free ammonia. The sensor will reversibly change colour from yellow (safe) to green (alert) to blue (toxic), directly correlating to the ammonia concentration.

This highly sensitive device can detect free ammonia levels as low as less than 0.05 mg/L (ppm), alerting you to this #1 killer before your fish show any visible signs of stress. With a lifespan of over a year, Ammonia Alert® offers long-term peace of mind.

Please note: This product is not recommended for use in highly acidic pH environments.

How it Works:

In a healthy aquarium with no detectable free ammonia, the Ammonia Alert® sensor will display a yellow or faint yellow-green colour. It's normal for a new, dry sensor to have a greenish tint, and it may take a few days to fully equilibrate with your aquarium water.

Once placed in the tank, the sensor continuously samples the water, providing a response to the presence of free ammonia within approximately 15 minutes. The colour change is directly proportional to the ammonia concentration, allowing for quick and easy visual assessment of water safety. Response to decreasing ammonia levels is slower, taking around 4 hours to transition from a TOXIC reading back to SAFE after ammonia removal.
